How to become a financial auditor in Romania

financial_auditor_in_Romania.jpgEvery individual, who is an accountant in Romania and intends to obtain the financial auditor qualification and become a member of the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania - CFAR, have to fulfill the following conditions:

- the candidate must graduate an economic university or other faculty and attend an additional economic training program approved by Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania;
- must have minimum 4 years experience in the financial-accounting area, minimum 3 years of practical training in the financial audit activity (with a training tutor) and graduate the CFAR financial-accounting test for access to practical training;
- during the practical training, the candidate have fulfilled the requirements of the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants and graduated the professional competencies exam at the end of the practical training.

Audit in Romania - 2012 exam conditions

After attending the compulsory courses, there are two categories of candidates who can register (at the Chamber’s headquarters, in Bucharest, 67-69 Sirenelor Street, 5th District) for the examination in order to obtain the financial auditor qualification:

- candidates (accountants in Romania) who have completed the practical training period and fulfilled their obligations to the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania;
- candidates who did not pass previous exam sessions, but are within the legal term to take again the exam.

Before the exam, the candidates must submit at the CFAR’s headquarters the following documents:

- the candidates (accountants in Romania) registering for the first time need the completed practical training notebook and the practical training tutor’s report for the last year of practical training. They also need the statement of the training tutor(s) that certifies their ability to take the exam, the copy of the registration fee payment receipt, a copy of the ID card and 4 identity card type photos.
- the candidates who did not pass previous exam sessions and are within the legal term to take the examination need the copy of the registration fee payment receipt, copy of the ID card and 4 identity card type photos.
- the candidates, who have registered before for the exam, but did not attend the examination due to personal reasons and are within the legal term to take the exam, need the statement of the training tutor(s) that certifies their ability to take the exam, the copy of the registration fee payment receipt, copy of the ID card and 4 identity card type photos.

Candidates need 4 photos for registering at the three tests. If they want to register for only two tests, 3 photos will be needed and for one test - two photos.

The registration for the exam must be made in person or by proxy - with a hand-written delegation. The fee for the examination can be paid by bank transfer or cash, at the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania’s Headquarters.
